Upcoming Drops: March 12 — 17

Let’s face it: The NFT space moves really fast. Considering how quickly things can change in the metaverse, a week in NFTs might as well be a month IRL.

Don’t get us wrong — the merrier, the more people onboarded into the space. But because of the constant influx of great art and ideas, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the news, launches, and general happenings.

Well, you can put the days of endless Twitter and Discord scrolling behind you as we pull together a weekly list of upcoming NFT drops you don’t want to miss. Here’s what to look out for this week.

Alice Gordon – The Age of Self Indulgence

Who: Alice Gordon is a wry, precise master of AI. Her work rises above the AI tide: formal, composed, and sharp as a knife.

What: 80 pieces, presented by Tender at Verse,

When: On auction until early Mar. 12.

Where: Verse

Why: Imagine the cool maximalist rooms you could hang these in, in meatspace or the metaverse. Gordon is imagining a proper world here, and it’s singularly hers.

Robert Alice – SOURCE [On NFTs]

Who: Robert Alice is an NFT OG, and his star is rising, having just edited Taschen’s “On NFTs” book. The Centre Pompidou acquisition of a piece from his “Portraits Of A Mind” collection is in perfect timing for this drop.

What: Christie’s is doing a proper Web3 drop with blind mint and a Dutch auction for the bright, beautiful SOURCE. 400 pieces are available, and in a first at Christie’s, you won’t know what you’ve got until you’ve minted.

When: Mar. 12.

Where: Christie’s.com.

Why: Robert Alice is a crypto art original. He enshrined the code and words of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto in art, and now it’s getting recognized. These SOURCE pieces are gorgeous and deeply entwined with the history of our space.

Michael Kutsche – Melancholia Bay

Who: Michael Kutsche is teaming up with @Artcrush for this drop.

What: Melancholia Bay—an unsettling and bang-on-trend animation referencing everything from Steamboat Willie to Pepe. Edition of 5, €4840.

When: March 13.

Where: Available at the effortlessly cool @Artcrush.

Why: This is Michael’s Artcrush Gallery curated limited edition release, coming with a set of cool physicals: a 32” Muse Frame Display and a print with Transient Labs, authenticated with T.R.A.C.E. tag and signed certificate.

Nuclear Samurai – MEATSCAPES

Who: Nuclear Samurai is one of the more interesting AI artists and is bringing his polished, unsettling work to Solana.

What: 500 meat-flavored abstract landscapes at .22 SOL apiece.

Where: LaunchMyNFT.io.

When: Friday, Mar. 15—presale 5 pm EST, public 9 pm EST.

Why: Tightly drawn, well-realized landscapes, turning the unexpected into meat. AI art progresses as we celebrate its experimenters—and Nuclear Samurai is a strong one.

Transient Labs/Stacks

Who: Transient Labs launches Stacks, its new platform offering deeply customizable pages for NFT creators, on Mar. 13. They debut with a series of fire launch partners, including ARTJEDI1, Michael Kutsche, Arrogant Kei, and Mumbot.

What: One artist will drop each day with affordable editions for .01 on Arbitrum. Check out this Space on Mar. 13 to hear more. We’re particularly into ARTJEDI1’s “Revolution Begins With One,” one of her characteristic, mesmerizing digital collages. ARTJEDI1 drops are few and far between—but if you encounter her work, it will grab you.

When: Every day, for a week or so. ARTJEDI1 drops on the 15th.

Why: The better the tools, the more powerful the mint. We’re looking forward to seeing what folks build on Stacks.
