Agoria Breathes New Life Into Musée d‘Orsay With Historic NFT Auction

Fresh off transforming the Musée d‘Orsay into the classiest rave imaginable during NFT Paris, French DJ/producer Agoria is set to deliver another first for the storied institution.

As the next phase of his ongoing “Le Code D’Orsay” exhibition, Agoria (AKA Sébastian Devaud) and collaborator Johan Lescure will auction five 1/1 artworks on Tezos in partnership with the Musée d‘Orsay that are derived from biological data from visitors to the showcase.

Entitled “The Convergence of Breath,” the five pieces were shaped by Agoria’s sculpture installation, “Σ Lumina,” at the Musée d‘Orsay. Exhibited in a room close to where the DJ performed on Feb. 23, the artwork’s shadow created a scannable QR code that enabled museum guests to mint a free NFT after blowing on their phones.

This collective breathwork molded the code that produced the five unique works. They will be auctioned on Thursday (Feb. 29) at 5 p.m. CET on Objkt.One.

“Since the beginning, Orsay and I wanted to drop the first on chain digital art authentified by the museum,” Agoria tells nft now. “It’s incredible to write a little page of the vertiginous history of Orsay. This museum has always been the voice of modernity. As a digital artist being embraced by this institution is a marker for a generation of artists and collectors.”

AGORIA

Asked if he had ever anticipated exhibiting his artwork or DJing in the Musée d‘Orsay’s hallowed halls, Agoria laughed and shook his head.

“It was a lifetime experience, being able to show my art, to design the production and play my music in such an iconic place!” he said.” Such a dream! All planets were aligned and the audience has enjoyed dancing in the middle of Rodin, Courbet, Renoir paintings and sculpture.”

“It was historical,” he added. “If I was on stage, it was an entire generation of artists and groundbreaking experiments that were celebrated and honored. A generation of artists who are breaking the codes, by creating and using them. A burgeoning ecosystem that introduces a new perspective and narrative to art and society. A tribe of collectors and passionate individuals, somewhat eccentric, who enable artists to be visible and to forge gateways to a deep metamorphosis.”

AGORIA

Agoria is no stranger to implementing organic elements into his artwork, coining the term “biological generative art” and saying he believes “the digital is nothing less than one of the many vehicles for our soul.”

“By collaborating with biologists, physicists, and coders, I am trying to shed light on the invisible beauty that lives within each and every one of us as well as the living surrounding us,” he told nft now in a recent interview.
