In June, the number of cryptocurrency automated teller machines (ATMs) saw a slight decline, yet 377 new ATMs were installed during the month. Since January 2024, data shows a total of 2,564 crypto ATMs have been deployed globally.
2024 Sees Steady Rise in Crypto ATMs Despite June Dip
At the end of 2022, there was a notable drop in bitcoin or crypto ATMs, with the worldwide count falling from 39,541 to 32,471 by July 2023. Currently, there are 38,279 crypto ATMs, indicating that 5,808 machines have been added over the past 11 months.
Approximately 2,564 crypto ATMs have been installed this year, with metrics from coinatmradar.com showing monthly increases except for June. This month experienced a minor reduction of 115 crypto ATMs, followed by the installation of 377 new machines. To break the 2022 record, an estimated 1,262 more bitcoin ATMs need to be installed.

The leading crypto ATM operators are Bitcoin Depot, Coinflip, and Athena Bitcoin. Bitcoin Depot operates 7,543 machines, Coinflip manages 5,057, and Athena oversees 2,756 ATMs. The United States hosts 82.7% of the world’s crypto ATMs, while Canada has 7.7%.
The global expansion of crypto ATMs reflects a strong market demand for localized financial services. Despite a minor dip in June, the subsequent installation of 377 ATMs demonstrates continued growth. Major operators continue to expand their networks, playing crucial roles in the industry’s development.
