Heroes of Mavia Launch DAO / Building on Base

Just in the last month or so, Heroes of Mavia has gone live, run a play to airdrop campaign, and launched their token, MAVIA. But they aren’t stopping there! Now they announce plans on using Base as their blockchain of choice, and kick their player DAO into action, already putting the first proposal up for a vote!

Heroes of Mavia seems to have had a great launch, bringing a lot of attention to their game and distributing tokens through their airdrop to over 50,000 wallets! And between iOS and Android devices Mavia is seeing over 300k daily, active players. That’s pretty significant!

Mavia on Base

Heroes of Mavia recently announced that they have chosen Base as their layer2 network of choice for their game. This blockchain network built by Coinbase has been gaining traction since its launch. Mavia wants to take advantage of the low gas fees and integrations, while also potentially exposing their game to Coinbase users who may not be very involved in the web3 gaming scene.

With Mavia’s active player numbers and Coinbase’s reputation, this seems like a win-win for everyone involved. For now, all we have is the basic announcement. We should learn more about what this means for Mavia players in future posts.

Mavia DAO

The Mavia player DAO officially launched, bringing with the opportunity for holders of MAVIA tokens to make proposals and vote on them.

The Mavia DAO will let anyone holding at least 1 MAVIA token make a pre-proposal on their Discord server. This must then pass through several stages before it can become an official proposal and put up for voting. It must DAO approved guidelines, undergo seven days of open discussion amongst the Mavia DAO members, and pass a review from the development, marketing and legal departments at Mavia.

Once the pre-proposal passes all of this, it will go up for vote as an official MIP (Mavia Improvement Proposal). Voting last for fourteen days. And, as I was writing this article, the very first community proposal, MIP#100, is now up for a vote! You can read the proposal and vote here. Voting is done with a wallet signature — no gas fee required.

Proposals can add or modify game features, change how funds are allocated from the Ecosystem fund, suggest process changes, and create partnerships or initiatives related to the DOA or the Mavia IP.

What is Heroes of Mavia?

Heroes of Mavia is a free to play, mobile, base building, RTS game built on the Ethereum blockchain. Players construct and improve bases, and fight with other players to earn RUBY, the main game currency. The game features upgradeable NFTs in the form of Bases, Heroes, and Statues. Bases are the core game component, and each player needs one in order to play. Heroes and Statues are optional, but both provide substantial benefits to your team. Heroes assist your army with attack and defense, while Statues boost base production. Additionally, players can upgrade their NFTs by spending RUBY tokens.

The game also includes Gold and Oil resources. These are in-game only and used for certain base upgrades. These resources are produced by bases and can be stolen from other players in raids.

Heroes of Mavia included rental mechanics into their game from the very beginning. Base owners can choose to rent out their bases to other players for passive income. This can be a fixed price rental system, or a ‘partnership’. Partnerships function as a built-in scholarship system. The base owner lets the partner run and upgrade their base in exchange for a percentage of the RUBY income.
